Praising for effort? Are you daft? Effort is worthless without talent. You can fill tomes with random keys pressed by slamming your forehead down on the keyboard but that doesn't mean it deserves praise. And i don't care if they mean anything to you. If you don't want them honesty criticized, keep them to yourself.
Her writing style? What, do you mean that of a grade-schooler? Calling her anything like innovative is straight offensive to REAL innovators. And she didn't do anything new. She took a bunch of ideas and cliches from the romance genre and squished them into a series. She didn't reinvent the vampire! Name one feature, besides the ridiculous sparkling that she made herself, that she didn't take from Buffy, or Anne Rice, or Dracula, or the Southern Vampire Mysteries, or traditional lore.
I'm open. I took Twilight with an open mind and still found it shite. In fact, i love to see new interpretations, but what she did is just terrible. And i also love different writing styles, but have terrible grammar, undeveloped characters, plot-holes out the ass, and no plot isn't a writing style. It's the product of someone not knowing how to write getting published.
How does saying it's from a dream make it any more acceptable? If you have a bad idea, it doesn't matter where it comes from, it's still a bad idea. The fact that the idea spawned from a dream does explain why it reads like a bad fan fic, but it doesn't mean it should have been published. She even said it herself that when she was writing it, she wasn't planning on publishing it. That's like doodling, thinking "no one will ever see this, so i'm not even going to try", then submitting it to an art gallery. Not that her other books are any good. The Host (which i'd be surprised if you've even read) was almost as bad.
